Nature
For my nature experiment I decided to go out to my backyard. This has always been the most relaxing place for me. Not just because its my home but because of the lightness of the air, and the different plants that make up our garden. I sat down, close enough to our orange tree to smell the aroma of the oranges. It was a light, yet strong Aroma that made me sneeze. I layed down on my lawn where I could listen to the chirps of our birds. I looked up at the sky and saw one of them, I examined its actions and realized it had created a nest for its new borns, In one of our trees. As I got closer I could listen to the chirps of these newborn birds. It was a good feeling because lately it has become harder for me to make time and go out to my backyard, and just relax and let nature take over me. I sat there observing every little detail. The best part however was the fresh wind blowing against me. It was a fresh, light feeling. It was not cold, it was simply at the right tempature. I could almost taste its undescribeable fragrance. Once this air blew against my face it became something like an "out of body" experience. This experiment made me value nature,I realize that sometimes this can be the easiest way to siply relax, by opening up to Nature and letting her take over your body.

Gifts
"the greatest gift is a portion of thyself"
According to Emmerson Gifts should be given from the heart, and a thank you should not be expected. It has become a habit to give and expect something in return. Gifts should hold a sentimental value and somehow carry a potion of thyself. It has become an obligation to give gifts on certain dates. This, Emmerson argues, shatters the idea of gift giving. Rather than given on specific dates, gifts would hold a much stronger value if given at random times and truly special days. Though I can honestly say that I disagree with certain situations I can undersrand these beliefs. I recall a moment almost five years ago, when I visited my grandma in Mexico city. Rather than giving me money, my grandma handed me a photo. She was carrying me in her arms when I was only a baby. On the back, she had dedicated me picture and written a family recepy for her famous "chiles rellenos" a mexican food. This is possibly one of the best gift I have ever recveived, not just from her, but from anyone

Friendship Experiment
" It is one of the blessings of old friends that you can be stupid with them"
"I may drop even those undermost garments of dissimulation, courtesy, and second thought.."
" A friend is a person with whom I may be sincere."
An "Emmersonian Friend" is someone who can be sincere, caring, and trustworthy. There is no such thing as a perfect friend because the truth is, no one is perfect. The element that makes a friendship perfect is based on the bond that friends share. The better friends know each other the stronger the bond gets, and the harder it becomes to break it.
When i arrived to soccer practice, I couldn't help to laugh at myself. I tried acting sincere, caring and insigtful. I failed because it turned out to be a lot harder than I thought. At times I would try but I would be interupted by a stupid comment one of my friends would make and it would break my concentration. Even though it was hard and i couldnt exacly follow the gidelines, I realized, that a true friendship could not be acted out, and for this reason was the experiment difficlut. If the situation presents iself I know my friends can be counted on, wether they use their humor to cheer me up, or simply give me advice.

Self Reliance
"Traveling is a fools paradise"
Upon reading this quote, i felt as if it was talking about people who travel to escape their every day problems, stresses and what not. I feel that at some point, everyone has thought about doing this, Not just physically but mentally as well. What emerson is saying, is that people often find themseves in situations where they simply want to forget about their lives, and run from their problems. The logical way to do this would be to travel somewhere far away, where your problems would be forgotten. However, the truth is one can never escape their thoughts, no matter where one is, the same problems will be with you until you decide to turn back and face them. This means that emotions are senseless as to where one is in the world. For example living in California and traveling to Europe solely to forget about your past will be a failure. One cannot tell their emotions and thoughts to simply go away, or to be on hold until one gets back from vacation. This quote was very interesting because it does something unique by emphasizing that reality cannot be escaped. "Traveling is a fools paradise" because the idea that one can run away from their problems by traveling to a different country is simply a fantasy.
